If you are eligible for Alberta Health home care services you may qualify for Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI). This program gives you the freedom to choose your own home care provider from the approved provider list and have them bill AHS directly. We at HomeFirst are thrilled to be on the approved provider list. This means you don't have to pay out of pocket or manage your own invoices. Whether you are new to CDHCI, already part of the self-managed care program, or receiving home care from AHS, we can help you transition to this convenient and flexible option. Our team of qualified and experienced home care professionals are ready to provide you with the best care possible.
Client Directed Home Care is a flexible option for clients who are eligible or approved for AHS Community Home Care, including Self Managed Care (SMC). It allows them to choose their own preferred private home care provider, such as HomeFirst, and enjoy the benefits of direct billing, personalized care, and customer service.
The Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program (CDHCI) is a program offered by Alberta Health Services (AHS) that enables clients to receive personal care, respite, and homemaking services from the provider agency of their choice (that’s us!) and have AHS pay for the services through Alberta Blue Cross.
With Client Directed Home Care, you can have more control over your care and schedule, as well as access to additional services if your budget allows. Many families use this funding to help their loved ones stay safe and comfortable in their own homes.
Who Can Apply?
Home care services are a great option for individuals who need support and assistance in their own homes. To access these services, you need to meet three main conditions:
- You must be a resident of Alberta and have a valid health care card. This is necessary to qualify for home care services.
- You must be able to receive care safely in your home. Home care services are not suitable for individuals who require intensive or specialized care that cannot be provided in their homes.
- You must be approved by an Alberta Health Services case manager. They will evaluate your needs and determine if you are eligible for home care services.
To request an assessment, you can call 811 or 780-496-1300 and they will help you with the next steps. You can also visit the Alberta Health Services website for more information about home care services https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/y2a/Page16532.aspx
AHS home care used to assign care teams and caregivers without considering the preferences of the clients. Now, clients have the freedom to select their own home care providers. This allows those requiring supports take control over their health. HomeFirst offers customized private care and premium customer service that are funded by the public healthcare system up to the maximum approved hours.
